Power Generation Companies, Local Authorities and Waste Management companies who are responsible for landfill sites can turn to CERAM for help to ensure they comply with stringent environmental legislation. Spurred on by the legislation and the increasing costs of power many landfill sites are converting the gas, which would otherwise be wasted, into electricity. However, it is important that gas used for this purpose does not contain any contaminants which may vastly impair the turbine/generators performance.
CERAM’s experts are fully equipped to carry out the necessary analysis of gases extracted from landfill and waste sites. This fast and efficient service is supported by its extensive range of sophisticated instrumentation to analyse bulk gases, trace components, siloxanes etc.
An expert can be on-site within 24 hours and results are with the clients within a couple of days.
Malcolm Rose of CERAM explained; “Landfill gas analysis needs to be carried out on a regular basis to ensure that it is clean and not damaging to the electricity production machinery. If we do find contaminants in the gas the landfill companies can immediately react and adjust it so that they can still continue to generate electricity.”
Using CERAM’s service not only reassures customers that they are complying with legislation, and therefore avoiding hefty fines, but also allows companies to produce energy from otherwise waste and environmentally harmful gases.
