Leeco Steel’s abrasion-resistant (AR) steel plates are generally manufactured in the as-rolled condition. These types/grades of steel plate products have been created precisely for long service life in challenging conditions. AR products are ideal for a range of applications in areas such as mining/quarrying, material handling and construction, conveyors, and earthmoving.
The AR plate steel is chosen by designers and plant operators when they feel the need to extend the service life of critical components and decrease the weight of each unit put into service. The advantages of employing wear-resistant plate steel in applications involving impact and/or sliding contact with abrasive material are vast.
Steel plate for use in abrasive conditions is not typical as it is not directed by any ASTM code or specification. A number of steel plate manufacturers make their own brand of AR steel and these are typically distinguished by a brand name followed by the steel’s hardness which is measured in Brinell units.
Abrasion-Resistant Steel Plates
AR Medium: AR200/AR235 - These plates are meant for moderate wear applications where it offers better wear resistance compared to an as-rolled structural carbon steel.
AR400/400F - AR400F are heat-treated, premium AR steel plates. They display through-hardening, better forming and welding capabilities.
AR450F/450F - AR450F is an AR plate steel used in a range of applications where marginally greater strength is preferred beyond AR400F.
AR500/500F - AR500F steel plates are ideal for forestry, mining, and construction applications that require very high levels of abrasion resistance.
AR600 - R600 is utilized in high-wear areas such as mining, aggregate removal, and the manufacture of buckets and wear bodies.
