Vadxx Energy, a developer of proprietary processes that convert petroleum-based products into natural gas and synthetic crude oil, and Greenstar Recycling, a provider of sustainable recycling solutions, have signed a joint venture (JV) agreement to transform recycled plastic into synthetic crude oil.
Both companies will jointly work to deliver a domestic fuel with environmental benefits. In the mid-2012, Vadxx and Greenstar JV will commence the production of synthetic crude oil in Ohio.
Greenstar’s CEO, Matt Delnick stated that Vadxx will aid the company to recover and reuse plastic products as feedstock for crude oil production. The new JV will enable the company to better serve its municipal clients by offering a high market value for their plastics.
Vadxx has been selected by Greenstar as its partner for plastics to energy conversion process because of the former’s commercial-scale capacity and size based on its expandable system, flexible design and continuous feed process.
Plastics, if not used in an effective manner, will occupy space in landfills. Vadxx has discovered a way to produce low sulfur content crude oil from plastics. The company manufactures synthetic crude oil using raw material feedstock, which consists of petroleum-based plastics, with thermal depolymerization process.
