SBE declared that its Power Ring Film Capacitor has been selected by the UQM Technologies for its PowerPhase Pro electric propulsion system. Since 2007, SBE has been operating with UQM’s design team to design a capacitor solution for its PowerPhase Pro electric propulsion system.
The PowerPhase Pro electric propulsion system of UQM has a peak efficiency of 94%, offering 100kW of peak power and 300 N-m of peak torque in a small 280mm diameter package measuring 252 mm in length. Lately, UQM developed volume production for the CODA Automotive's all-electric sedan.
Alternative energy systems and powertrain utilize Power Ring Film Capacitor, which functions as a DC Link Filter Capacitor for inverter applications. The SBE technology, under arduous demands of these systems offers unique, dynamic products, facilitating increased power density and reliability, and simple cooling infrastructure. SBE has been creating products for preliminary advanced systems with inclining capacity. Following the achievement of Recovery Act - Electric Drive Vehicle Battery and Component Manufacturing Initiative by the US Department of Energy, the firm has constructed a capacitor manufacturing facility to enable serving industry needs.
According to the President and Chief Executive Officer of SBE Ed Sawyer, improvements to high performance PowerPhase propulsion system with the expansion of the firm’s manufacturing facility is achieved through the operation of UQM Technologies as the firm’s production customer. Following the addition of UQM to the transportation design customers, SBE’s technology and the resulting commercialization will promote significant success.
