Fabrication and Heat Treatment

Machinability

VDM LC 99.6 alloy can be machined by conventional means. High speed tools with positive rake angles are preferred for cutting.

Forming

The alloy has good ductility, and can be formed by standard means.

Welding

Welding of VDM LC 99.6 alloy can be performed through all conventional welding techniques.

Forging

The alloy can be forged at temperatures ranging from 899 to 1232°C (1650 to 2250°F).

Hot Working

Hot working can be carried out at temperatures from 652 to 1204°C (1205 to 2200°F).

Cold Working

The alloy is very ductile, and can be readily cold-worked.

Annealing

VDM LC 99.6 alloy can be annealed at 871°C (1600°F).

Hardening

The alloy can be hardened only by cold working.
