High Density Polyethylene Healthcare Material from Borouge and Borealis

Two leading providers of chemical and novel plastics solutions, Borouge and Borealis, have launched Bormed HE9601-PH high density polyethylene (HDPE) material for the healthcare market.

The new high flow solution enhances productivity for converters without compromising the performance of diagnostic, pharmaceutical packaging and medical devices.

The new grade has a melt flow rate of 31 and this improves the flow rate to a maximum of 2.5 times than other alternative products. The flow rate improvement allows rapid injection moulding in applications that range from two-part syringe plungers to closures and caps. In addition, the high flow rate enables operation at reduced temperature and pressure. This capability decreases maintenance of both energy and moulds, thus offering significant cost benefits.

The Bormed HE9601-PH from Borouge and Borealis provides various advantages, including impermeability to water vapor, exceptional barrier performance, high chemical resistance, chemical inertness and high stiffness. This healthcare-dedicated material can be sterilized utilizing standard methods like radiation and Ethylene Oxide.

The Bormed HE9601-PH HDPE is registered to Drug Master File and complies with US and European Pharmacopeia. The new product launch shows Borouge’s and Borealis’ commitment towards continuous advancement in the healthcare market.
