Polyera, Thin Film Electronics Join Hands to Develop Organic Semiconductor Materials for Printed Electronics

Thin Film Electronics and Polyera have entered into a partnership for the development of organic semiconductor materials for the mass printing of integrated systems and Thinfilm Addressable Memory, paving the way for commercializing printed integrated solutions such as smart sensor tags.

Through the collaboration, Polyera and Thin Film Electronics will jointly develop integrated printed system prototypes by integrating Thinfilm Addressable Memory with Polyera materials such as n-type semiconductors, and create ink formulations based on gravure for applications in high-output printing devices.

As per the deal, Polyera will deliver commercial quantities of semiconductor materials for Thin Film Electronics and will join in the production. Polyera will also get exclusive rights for the ink formulations designed for the application field of Thin Film Electronics. With its expertise in the advancement of solution-processable dielectrics and semiconductors, Polyera develops innovative materials and offers extensive technology support to its partners for the rapid commercialization of novel electronic products.

PARC, a company of Xerox, and Thin Film Electronics recently developed a printed non-volatile memory prototype, the world’s first device featuring organic circuits, which are CMOS circuit’s organic equivalent. The Chief Executive Officer at Thin Film Electronics, Davor Sutija stated that Polyera's advanced n-type organic transistors have played a role for the development of highly efficient, simply-designed printed CMOS logical circuits, which are critical to develop printed systems using the company’s memory device and other printed components.

Polyera’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Philippe Inagaki stated that the company is a pioneer in advanced materials, which will enable the advancement of future electronics.
