Applications of Direct Detection in Electron Backscatter Diffraction

The Clarity EBSD Detector is the first and only commercially available direct detection Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) detector, offering single-electron sensitivity, zero noise, and zero distortion. It is suitable for both new and legacy applications, delivering unmatched characterization capabilities. Recently, EDAX expanded its direct detection product line with the introduction of the Clarity Super, a detector optimized for high performance at beam energies as low as 3 kV. This makes the Clarity Super ideal for analyzing beam-sensitive materials, thanks to its exceptional performance at low beam currents and energies.

The high-fidelity EBSD patterns produced by the Clarity enable advanced applications such as high-resolution EBSD (HR-EBSD) and pseudosymmetry analysis.
