This webinar discusses a new, rebuilt, high-resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometer for gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. The time-of-flight spectrometer has integrated software that leverages all available information to identify molecules in complex mixtures.
This new GC-MS system has increased resolving power (R > 30,000) and high mass accuracy (< 1 ppm). It also offers a variety of ionization techniques, including classical electron ionization (EI), soft ionization (CI, PI, FI), and combination EI/FI/FD and EI/PI ion sources.
This innovative GC-MS system also includes data analysis software, which combines high-resolution MS with EI and soft ionization methods to automatically provide a color-coded qualitative analysis report for all analytes in the sample.
The software workflow starts with chromatographic peak deconvolution, then moves on to database matching, elemental composition determination for the molecular ion, isotope pattern matching, and EI fragment accurate mass analysis to find the most similar candidates for compounds in databases.
This information can also help identify chemicals not included in the database. The most recent version of the software contains a compare feature, which enables a fast comparison of samples to find differences.
Several examples demonstrate the usefulness of combining this new high-performance GC-MS with our most recent automated qualitative analysis software version.
Key Topics
- An introduction to the new GC-HRMS system
- Insight into an automated workflow and how it can be used to simplify data analysis
- Utilizing EI and soft ionization with HRMS to streamline qualitative analysis
